Mount Juliet estate

Mount Juliet Estate is Built on a ridge overlooking the River Nore by the first Earl of Carrick. In the centuries that followed, the estate experienced the fullness of Irish history, a magnificent icon of Kilkenny that changed with the world around it and the distinctive characters that occupied it, yes, but never lost the qualities that guests can still enjoy to this day.

The story of Mount Juliet is an ongoing one, in which we can explore together on a guided segway trail tour.

Graiguenamanagh

Graignamanagh is a beautiful town and is home to Duiske Abbey, originally a Cistercian Monastery, now a Catholic parish church. With a simple exterior contrasting with its elaborate interior, visitors can see the ancient stone and high clerestory windows of the nave as well as an effigy of a 13th-century knight at the entrance.

.A great way to explore Graignamanagh is by Segway passing through dramatic landscapes, mysteries wooded valleys and old navigations once used by the Guinness barges to deliver Ireland’s favourite tipple.

Woodstock Gardens

Woodstock Gardens are located in the south east of Kilkenny just outside the picturesque village of Inistioge. The gardens, overlooking the River Nore Valley, offer the visitor a wide variety of attractions and are a most relaxing and beautiful environment in which to spend a day. The gardens are currently undergoing restoration by Kilkenny County Council and further features and planting are being added all the time.

Kilkenny CAnal

If a scenic tour sounds like the perfect respite from a busy day of sightseeing, then you will enjoy The Canal tour. The promenade begins at Canal Square near John’s Bridge and initially runs along a wall below Kilkenny Castle. It follows the River Nore for miles into the countryside. But a great route is to take the trail until reaching a pedestrian bridge and then cross over to return on the Lacken Walk on the opposite shoreline.

Jenkinstown Woods

The wood was formerly part of the Bryan Bellew Estate. Enjoy a tour around the Walled Garden Loop. Of particular note at Jenkinstown is a stand of beech trees with a magnificent carpet of bluebells in late Spring, also the Chinese necklace poplar tree which has survived from the original park planting of the 1870’s. Children of all ages can enjoy a deer enclosure next to the car park.

The Walled Garden Loop is enclosed with in the walls of the old estate, it starts at the mapboard in the carpark, exit through the Door in the Wall and turn left on the woodland path and follow the green arrow.
